Tailored Illumination & Heritage Craft
From bespoke star lanterns for private residences to restoration of ancestral heirlooms, our studio honors the quiet art of Imus capiz shell craft.
Handcrafted window and entryway lanterns built to your spatial scale and warmth preference.
Each commission begins with raw, harvested windowpane oysters carefully selected for translucency. We shape, edge, and secure every shell within hand-hammered brass bindings or steam-bent bamboo frames, creating a luminous piece designed to endure across generations.
Meticulous conservation and shell replacement for inherited family lanterns.
Decades of exposure can brittle translucent shell panes and oxidize internal wiring. Our studio offers gentle, period-accurate restoration: we source aged capiz to match missing sections, re-solder brass seams, and update internal fittings to modern standards without altering historic charm.
Large-scale suspended installations for foyers, hospitality, and civic spaces.
We collaborate with architects and interior designers to create custom suspended light sculptures. Utilizing the natural light-diffusing qualities of capiz, these installations filter daylight by afternoon and radiate warm, atmospheric ambient light by evening.
Our Method
Windowpane shells are hand-sorted for thickness, translucency, and natural iridescence to ensure even light dispersion across the entire lantern geometry.
Thin brass ribbons are hand-folded over each shell rim and soldered at key structural nodes, building a sturdy skeleton capable of lasting decades.
We test each fixture under varying color temperatures, selecting light sources that highlight the warm amber and pearlescent tones of the capiz.
