We shape natural capiz shell and brass into lanterns that hold warmth across generations. Rooted in Imus, our workshop honors the slow rhythm of traditional Filipino shellcraft—where translucent marine shell meets patient joinery.
Long before capiz lanterns hung from eaves during seasonal gatherings, translucent Placuna placenta shells served a practical architectural purpose. Softened in coastal water and trimmed into square panes, they framed windows across traditional ancestral homes, filtering intense tropical sunlight into a soft interior glow.
In Imus, Cavite, this architectural logic met traditional metalwork. Workshop artisans began bending thin brass ribs into geometric radiances and housing soft lamps within shell boundaries. The illumination was never harsh—it was ambient, warm, and distinctly meditative.
We continue this quiet practice today. Each shell pane is selected for clarity, matched for uniform translucency, and held by hand-soldered brass armatures. We refrain from high-volume assembly, preserving the tactile cadence of raw material and individual craft.
We select capiz shells from sustainable coastal harvests, inspecting each piece for natural iridescence, strength, and subtle surface grain.
Ribs are shaped and soldered by hand in our Imus workshop, creating structural frames designed to age gracefully over decades.
Engineered for calm spaces, our lanterns diffuse bulb glare into a serene glow suitable for residential and contemplative interiors.
Our Imus studio relies on long-standing metalworkers and shell crafters. Each piece reflects the quiet discipline of its maker.
